Maltese Team do well in the Crotone Carnival Cup - Oppies

A team of 8 Maltese young Optimist sailors recently took part in the Crotone Carnival Cup. Wind conditions were quite challenging with pretty strong wind , but our sailors are quite a tough bunch and sailed very competitively throughout. With a fleet of 195 sailors, mixed girls and boys, all managed to place well within the entire fleet.
Craig Farrugia Vella was on top form and completed each race crossing the line anywhere between 1st and 8th place thus giving him an overall 2nd position and place on the podium. An honour to be able to stand up there and listen to your National Anthem being played.

Victoria Schultheis and Matthew Micallef (21st and 25th respectively) were also on good form both managing to achieve a 1st position in one of their races. Jake Satariano (23rd) sailed consistantly getting a 3rd and two 7th placings followed by Richard Schultheis in 31st, Antonia Schultheis in 50th and Patrice Pace in 98th place. It was Saul Vassallo's first experience racing abroad, a great event to be able to participate in for the first time. Saul came in 113rd overall.

Once again well done to all sailors.
