Malta's Richard Schultheis 1st in Junior Gold Fleet of British and Open Optimist Championships

After a wet start to the British Optimist National Championships (officially called 2015 Volvo Gill British National and Open Championships) the event had a few days very competitive Optimist class racing. The event took place in Pwllheli, Wales - location of the European Oppies the other week.

Five of Malta's young sailors stayed on after the European Championships to compete in this event.
Richard Schultheis was pretty much the outright winner of his class with nine first positions, a second and two third places. He had an overall of 17 series points with the second place winner having an overall of 44 series points.

In the Senior gold fleet (Open Class) Victoria Schultheis (who came third girl in the Europeans) came in 19th overall with Jake Satariano in 40th place and Lucas Le Gault in 51st place out of a class fleet made up of 82 sailors.

In the Silver Senior fleet Antonia Schultheis came in a very commendable 3rd place out of a fleet of 81 sailors.
