My all time favourite fresh juice must be Prickly Pear juice. Above is my freshly made (after having someone else peel a bucket load of the prickly things!) - nothing like it and I don't think I can compare the taste to anything else either - so if you want to know what it tastes like you will have to taste it yourself. The above has absolutely NOTHING to do with any ready made stuff you may find in the shop. The taste does not even come anywhere close.
Prickly pear is a member of the Aloe family, so health benefits are numerous. To quote :
''The interest in prickly pear plant is growing due to both the medical research and the wonderful taste of the fruit. Prickly pear has been used in Mexico to treat diabetes for over 1,000 years, and is one of the most used natural products in Central America.
The use of prickly pear as a natural helper in the treatment of diabetes is well known among native cultures. It is known to have hypoglycemic effects. The prickly pear has been reported as beneficial to a whole host of conditions. Research has shown it has beneficial actions on the cardiovascular system by decreasing platelet activity. Rain was forecast and it has arrived. A small downpour and lots of thunder and lightening. I think we are getting the tail end of the bad weather Italy is getting.
I always love the smell of the soil in the air after it has rained.

Summer seems to come and go. Loads of plans before summer.......''We will do this..........we will do that''. Half way through summer and you have done nothing! We, fortunately, grabbed the bull by the horns and made a 'date' with a good friend to spend a day out on his Dehler yacht ''Mischief''.
Brilliant day - the best this summer. Relaxed, good food, good company, lovely clear and clean sea (as can be seen from above) - and, of course, just being out on the water. The only down side (if you want to call it that) was that there was not a good sailing wind so we had to motor...............but who's complaining?!
The biggest summer feast of the year, Santa Maria, has come and gone. 'Lampuki' (press to see link) season has just started and the first rain is approaching. Italy seems to be covered in storms/thunder storms and it looks like we may be getting the tail end of it. I always say May/June and mid September/October are the best summer months - July and August can disappear as far as I am concerned!
It is almost full moon - will this bring some wind? We hope so.............until then we move around our daily routine in the intense heat and long for the excitement of that first 'change of air'.

We get some lovely sunrises and sunsets. The same way the sun welcomes a new day and the sunset says goodbye to that day, so do we welcome new guests and, unfortunately, have to say goodbye.
We have been very blessed with all the lovely people who have travelled over to Gozo to stay in our houses DAR GHAX-XEMX and SAN PUPULJU. Once again, after bidding farewell to another family, I get that feeling that I know why I am doing this. The reward is in meeting people from different cultures, interesting stories to tell, interesting back grounds. The reward is in seeing how visitors appreciate all the hard work and love which has gone into our renovations.........and in the way they look after the houses like they were their own. The reward is in having made new friends. So as the sun sets on this day it journeys around the globe only to rise the next day bringing with it more new guests from all parts of the world and with them another culture and new friendship.

The world windsurfing community yesterday lost an important member who has dedicated the last years of his life to the sport of windsurfing. From one of the leading freestylists he became a leader in promoting the sport through his amazing windsurfing movie skills.
He has been fighting cancer for the past few years and pushed himself to the limits in spite of his illness. Up until a few weeks back in July he was present in Pozo for the PWA event. He was in the process of completing his last movie
