Summer is in full swing - far too hot at 40C or a bit lower. That means tomatoes are also in full swing and Gozo is one mass of tomatoes. Above is local produce from and made by our neighbour (with the exception of the Basil which is my own home grown). From left to right are freshly dried sun dried tomatoes, kunserva (the local tomato paste which I consider to be the best in the world - even better than the Italian produced tomato paste - and home made is even better). In the foreground, obviously, the delicious tomato which can be used in so many different and interesting ways. I think our personal culinary skills here in Malta/Gozo would be at quite a loss without the precious tomato, whatever the season.
