A Drawing Can Sometimes be A Better Record Than a Photo!

The above drawing was made by my very talented daughter! (Now how's that for motherly love!) I had sent her a photo taken of John when he caught his big fish a couple of weeks back - if you scroll down you can see the original pic. I just love the result and think it is more expressive than the actual photograph itself.

Yesterday's Catch

The above pics shows the Dendici (Dentex) caught yesterday by ''my better half'' and a friend. They average around 4 kilos in weight. They also caught an Acciola (Amberjack) weighing around 3 kilos. Like today the weather was great - a lovely sunny day with calm sea.

A New Art Site to Discover............

A dear friend of mine, Maureen Hughes, has just put up a new website displaying some of her works of art. I love the colours she uses and I especially like the Mexican themed ones (like above) - the colours are so vibrant. It is well worth visiting the site which is very user friendly - besides seeing some more of her pictures you can read a small biography of her. Click on this link to view her site

Valentine's Day Windsurfer

Top 10 Reasons for Women to Date a Windsurfer:

Ladies, are you still searching for that special someone? Consider looking amongst the windsurfers:

10. The ratio of men to women is 4 to 1.
9. They can talk about something besides football.
8. They don’t smell too bad because it’s a good bet they’ve gotten wet recently.
7. They have another interest besides sex.
6. You know they’re rich enough to afford windsurfing equipment.
5. You always get the latest weather report, several times a day.
4. They are capable of commitment, at least to their sport.
3. They have no issues about wearing rubber.
2. You always know where they are, at least when it’s windy.
1. Windsurfers are generally fit, tanned, and have cute butts.

(This next bit is the one I like!)

Non-windsurfing men should NOT...repeat NOT...pursue windsurfing women, unless they are prepared to immediately throw themselves into the sport. Otherwise such men will be surrounded by angry windsurfing men who all seek the great and rare prize: the girlfriend or wife who windsurfs. To squander such a find on a landlubber is an offense to those of us who sheet in!

(There is the opinion held by a small minority that it is a drag to be a man whose significant other probably have to rig for them, they use your equipment etc. but generally speaking the willingness of such wahines to make every vacation a windsurfing vacation, to understand why the garage needs to be packed with tons of expensive wet gear etc. outweighs the rigging/sharing concerns. Discussion of such matters is encouraged.)

Gozo Ferry This Morning

Comino ferry in the early morning light

Some nice waves in the Channel

The point of Comino looking nice and green

This morning I had an extra nice trip over to Gozo. There was a good force 7 Westerly wind blowing, lovely fresh air..............and I basically never tire of the secenery travelling back and forth to Gozo in all weathers! We're so lucky out here to have such lovely blue sea and (as I think I have said in earlier blog entries) the contrast of colours of the Maltese stone and sea are really stunning.

Focus on Dar Ghax-Xemx Farmhouse in Gozo

''Mrs Gossip'' stands guard in the courtyard outside the sitting room in Dar Ghax-Xemx

The much needed coffee table I made for the roof terrace at Dar Ghax-Xemx

I have given the twin bedroom in Dar Ghax-Xemx a slightly new look by adding a couple of wall hangings from Bali and changed the curtain colour scheme

This ''Nicca'' can be found on the corner of a house a few metres down the alley where Dar Ghax-Xemx is situated

We have just finished our annual maintenance in Dar Ghax-Xemx ready for our first guests of the season who arrive Saturday coming. Dar Ghax-Xemx has proved to be an extremely popular property. It is unique in the area and offers very high quality accommodation at very affordable prices. You are actually getting value for your money!

Dar Ghax-Xemx lies in a pretty dead end alley lined with plants and covered over in rose creeper. It is situated in the oldest part of Victoria in Gozo. The location is very peaceful yet just a couple of minutes from the main square, shops, restaurants and a short 5 minute walk to the bus terminus.

UK.............Under Snow...........Mainland Europe............Snow too..................Malta..............Boy it's Hot Today!

Cartoon image taken off (images)

Since I have ALOT of friends who are enjoying the unusually large amount of snow fall in the UK and also quite alot of snow mainland Europe are getting..............................just felt like putting a spoke in the works by letting them know that here at home in Malta the sun is shining with a VERY warm southerly breeze which has pushed daily temperatures up to what I reckon must be about 20C on our balcony!

Still building snowmen Rob?

Some Activity from Yesterday..................and a Short HIstory Lesson!

Seeing as I have been a bit lax lately with my blogging I am just posting some ''activity pics'' from yesterday afternoon's bit of sailing. I managed to get some good runs in before the wind started to die out.
The launch area in Mellieha Bay in a South Westerly to West is from what we call the 'Slipway'. Thus named cos this was our launch site when the sailing club was up and running in the heyday of olympic racing with an average 35-60 starters almost every weekend (big regattas the numbers ran close to a 100 at one time). We had a bridge for the race committee to operate from but no clubhouse (no thanks to our government!). Well, as olympic racing became unfashionable and the recreational part of windsurfing took over numbers started to dwindle and surfing in different locations (where there was a possibility of some waves) became priority. The rest is history!

Tommy - Camera Trial

The above short clip was taken yesterday in a dying wind. Tommy is usually an ace at his 360's but unfortunatley didn't pull it off while I was shooting. This was his last run of the day. I just wanted to try the Sanyo camera out bobbing about in the water for the first time. Just a bit of fun - the light isn't too good cos it came out a bit dark, think that is the direction of the sun.
