WALK AROUND THE NORTH OF GOZO

video

This is a walk we did from one of our farmhouses ,''San Pupulju'', in Ghammar (near Ghasri) down Wied il-Mielah and along the cliffs and back through San Dimitri and Gharb. We then did another walk through Gharb and round the back way through San Lawrenz back to ''San Pupulju'' again. I have combined these two walks into the slide show above.

Between November and Spring is the perfect time for walks in Gozo.

WARNING

HI ALL - I AM PRETTY CHEESED OFF RIGHT NOW. I HAVE HAD 3 LOTS OF CRETINS GO ONTO MY BLOG AND LEAVE VIRUSES. FORTUNATELY MY ANTI VIRUS BLOCKED THEM IMMEDIATELY. BEWARE OF ODD COMMENTS THAT JUST SAY STUFF LIKE ''LOOK HERE '' AND YOU JUST CLICK ON THE 'HERE' PART AND STUFF LIKE THAT.
THESE GUYS ARE JUST SICK.
I HAVE TRIED REPORTING THEM TO BLOGGER BUT IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO BE ABLE TO MAKE A DIRECT REPORT EXPLAINING THE PROBLEM. I HAVE DONE MY BEST TO DO SO WITH WHAT I COULD FOLLOW - SO JUST BE CAREFUL.

BY THE WAY I HAVE DELETED THE RELEVANT ENTRIES FROM MY BLOG ENTIRELY.

IT'S THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS AND I HOPE THAT BLOGGER WILL TRY AND RECTIFY THE PROBLEM.

Some Surfing Pics from Malta

Pics by Chris Spiteri - rider in top 2 pics Jay
Last week while we were in Venice they had a big NNE swell come in here at home. We don't often get these swells in Malta so whenever we do the handful of surfers out here make the most of it!

Hail In Gozo

Further to my reference to the hail in Gozo earlier this week, the local paper, The Times of Malta, has come out with another pic!

Got That 'Feeling' Back

What a great feeling! I am salty, hair still wet and windblown, toes numb and a lovely rubbery smell on my skin. That can only mean one thing....................I HAVE BEEN OUT ON THE WATER! Not the best of conditions, wind was dying but so what! I had a good time, enjoyed every minute of it - lulls too. After not being down since Christmas time - who's complaining!
First used my 74litre wave board then had to take the 86l - had 5m sail. OK got the bug again!

MAUI WINDSURFING UNDER SERIOUS THREAT!!

Image from oceansafety.soest.hawaii.edu

Would you believe that the 'Mecca' of windsurfing is under threat of being banned!! It seems that authorities in Maui are trying to pass a bill to ban all windsurfers and kitesurfers from the beaches because they pose a threat to swimmers and........yes surfers!!! Surely there can be a compromise here. What about swimmer zones and surfer zones? And surely when windsurfers want to be out the conditions are not good enough for surfers. They like the windless glassy waves not the choppy break.

You have up to today to put in a protest about this. To learn what to do go onto this link:

Wind On The Way?

Looks like the possibility of some wind on the weekend. Let's hope so - beginning to get withdrawal symptoms here! It's been about 6 or 7 weeks since I was last down. That's a long time!!

Missed the Wind but Venice was Worth It!

Above: The pigeons in St. Mark's Square were hysterical - great fun!!

Well, just got back from a quick break in Venice (Europe). Never been and have always wanted to visit. Very expensive place but have to say it was worth every penny we spent. One just cannot begin to describe the atmosphere - it can only be experienced by going there. Pure magical place.

Obviously while we were gone the wind blew!! Sod's law! It seems they had a windy north easterly so there would have been good waves in the bay. So now its another wait for the next lot of wind - it certainly doesn't seem to be coming this week. Should I take up a different sport that doesn't rely on the wind so much? Maybe chess (no you have to use your brain too much for that!), draughts or darts! Any suggestions welcome!!

A Walk from Victoria to Mgarr Harbour in Gozo

video

This is a walk we did a couple of weeks back. We started from our house (Dar Ghax-Xemx) in Victoria, Gozo and walked to Xewkija. We went through Xewkija to the outskirts and followed a country road to the old Heliport. Near the Heliport we looked at an old Tower and also a Medeival Chapel. We carried along this country road to the outskirts of Ghajnsielem. From there we walked down to the sea then along the coast until we reached the harbour. It took us about 3 hours...................we went the long way round ofcourse!

Nayra Breaks her Foot

Pic taken from Nayra's Blog

Bad news for Nayra Alonso - she has broken her foot while windsurfing in South Africa. Hope it heals well for her and quickly cos the PWA will be starting soon. Not sure if she will make the first event (actually not sure WHEN the first event is!) Anyhow I wish her a speedy recovery.

Kevin Pritchard has signed on with Gaastra. He is presently in Vietnam doing some testing for Starboard. Chris Pressler is also there too right now. Think he is doing both some testing and some racing.
