MORE CONTROVERSY........THIS TIME A WAVE

Found the above pic on the Peconic Puffin's blog (you can link him on my favourite blogs on the right of this page). This is taken from www.riptidemag.com.au and is meant to be a wave off the South West of Oz. Personally I think the pics have been touched up. If you go onto the mag and see some of the other pics the amount of water at the top of the wave just looks unreal. I stand to be corrected but I am very sceptical.

That's one crazy wave, I've never seen one like that and I can't believe a spongee rode it. That's a lot of water on the backside. That's not to say it doesn't exist, I have seen a lot of wild stuff in my time.

I am quite interested to know what the topography of the seabed is there to cause the wave to take that shape and allow that volume of water to remain at the crest of the wave for such a long time.

It is a bizarre looking wave, but I've read that there are two or three places in the world that can look like this (Shipsterns is another)

If you go to this link and scroll 3/4 down the page you can see a sequence of photos of a surfer on the wave...it helps illustrate how that bizarre wavetop forms.

From what I can gather by all the forum reading it was a one off wave and the photographer got it at the right time.
